Notice Regarding the u‑blox Universal GNSS Driver
Installing the u‑blox Universal GNSS Driver on a Panasonic TOUGHBOOK device changes how GPS data is provided to applications. After installation, the standard GPS COM Port will no longer appear, and COM‑port–based applications will not be able to acquire GPS data. This driver supplies positioning data through the Windows Location API instead of a virtual COM port.

• When to Install This Driver
  You should install the u‑blox Universal GNSS Driver only if your application uses the Windows Location API to access GNSS data. Applications developed for the Location API will receive positioning data directly from the u‑blox GNSS hardware through this driver.
• If Your Application Uses the COM Port
  If your software or workflow requires GPS data through a COM Port, do not install the u‑blox Universal GNSS Driver. Once the driver is installed, the COM Port will not be available and GPS tools relying on a virtual COM port—such as Panasonic GPS Viewer—will not function.
• If You Need Both Location API and COM Port
  For customers whose applications must use both:
     - Windows Location API, and
     - a traditional COM Port interface,
  Panasonic offers a GPS COM Splitter solution that allows simultaneous access to GNSS data through both interfaces. To determine whether the GPS COM Splitter is appropriate for your system and application environment, please contact your local Panasonic Sales Engineer for guidance and support.
